Leather Book Binding Workshop

65.00

Date: Wednesday, July 17th

Time: 6-8 pm

Where: 3 Cups

Join us for an incredibly fun night sewing and crafting our very own leather journals!

Attendees will learn the long stitch binding method with this journal and can choose between blank or lined cream colored 24lb paper. We will tear the edges for the old fashioned deckled style edge. After tearing, we will fold, punch, and stitch our papers into pre-punched leather.

Embellishments include an antiquing ink available for aging the pages (VERY fun!!) and our handful of adventure/travel themed stamps will be available to use as well. Every attendee will go home with an extremely unique and personalized journal.

Full-color, step-by-step digital refill instructions will be available for purchase ($1.99) as well as additional kits for creating more journals at home!

**All paper is acid free and leather is genuine 100% rustic cowhide for quality that you can refill and reuse again and again.

Amanda Stokes began learning the old art of bookbinding  and repair in 2007 and fell passionately in love. As she got more involved in the community, sharing her specialty, she noticed a glimmer in people's eyes and an interest into this unique world.  She knew she had to come up with a way to get others involved and share her passion.  She learned to source high quality leather, stitch journals, grow her artistic skills, and introduce the world of book arts to others through workshops.

As a recent transplant from Wisconsin to Utah, Amanda is excited to be diving into the fantastic community opportunities all over Utah this Summer, setting up her booth and workshops at local events, businesses, and art shows in the area. You can find her summer schedule on her website, www.tightlyboundbooks.com
